When I was in foster care I had an officer who kept arresting me as a runaway. After the 3rd time he and his wife came to see me in DT and asked if I’d like to come live with them. Within 60 days they became certified and took me in, along with 2 other children. I still speak to them. He’s not an officer anymore.

A teenager was constantly getting in trouble and a nice cop kept driving him home and trying to get him on the right path. He was getting in trouble because his mother had breast cancer and his stepfather was a drug addict. That same kind cop adopted him and gave him a real home. That cop was my grandfather - God rest is soul. My Poppy raised me with so much love - I miss him everyday.

We truly try not to arrest the parent in front of the child. We don’t want kids to be scared of us and not come to us if they are ever in need. I will even have the parent call someone to come get the child before I arrest the parents.

when my mom was getting arrested for drunk driving the officer took me out of my car seat and we went to the back of his cruiser and watched winnie the pooh on his phone until my aunt came to get me.

I still have a teddy bear that an officer gave me when I was 4. he walked me out to his cruiser, I sat in the backseat he knelt on the ground right outside the open door and he gave me the bear and we played with it while the rest of the first responders busted the bathroom door down because my birthmom was trying to off herself. I had no idea what was happening at the time inside the house. I'm 36 and that teddy bear is in my living room. the shirt was added in my teen years
