the wood industry itself is a scam, they even go so far to claim that shrinking from moisture evaporation, the cutting, and milling process is the reason a 2x4 is actually 1.5x3.5 when you go back to the 1800s and early 1900s a 2x4 was 2x4. they sell you less for a higher cost made out of cheaper material
