FOR CONTEXT Me and my wife didn't necessarily do things in "order" but when she got pregnant I was tempted to follow a lot of the world today's example of being there for the child but not ultimately committing to the mother. I think a lot of men in this instance feel like they are already married to a women they are living with and having children with but it's not the same. In my case I already had a desire to marry my wife before she Got pregnant but it still would have been easy to drag the timeline out and not approach my lack of commitment with urgency. Long story short I'm so glad I made it a point to get married sooner than later because it really streamlined my maturity not only as a partner but as a father. I know everyone's situation is different but if you are a man that still has the chance to step up and fully commit to your family It is challenging but far more rewarding. You can try and handle new responsibilities acting from your old self and ultimately let yourself and your family down or you can lean into the Man God is calling you to become. I had to stop drinking, stop hanging with certain people, stop idolizing musicians and athletes living lawless lifestyles. I started reading Gods word started going to church and started seeking counsel from men I knew were Good husbands and fathers. 3 years later I have absolutely ZERO REGRETS.
