I am by no means saying you can’t cancel for big things like this. My brides would have understood. However I was called and told I had to have my double mastectomy and given 2 weeks notice. I had picked up a bunch of weddings because their original artist fell down the stairs and broke his wrist. These brides already had someone have an emergency. I didn’t want to add anymore stress to their special day. And I know my capabilities. I live with chronic pain, so I knew I could handle it. My assistant did all the lifting, all the curls, I just pinned and put the hair into place. So seeing stories of artists double booking or canceling last minute is so infuriating to me. This industry isn’t something we do for fun, or a little extra cash. This is the biggest day of someone’s life. Being a business owner is a big deal.
