Parker's foster has some words to say about about this queen: I really love living with Parker and honestly, if my circumstances were different, I would have adopted her in a heartbeat. Overall, she is a lower energy dog who spends most of our day napping in one of her two favorite spots (the couch or under my bed). That doesn’t mean she has no energy, she really comes alive in the morning from 7am to 9:30am and then in the evening from 4:30pm until our bedtime at 10pm. She loves being outside and going on walks which are more like slow sniffing expeditions where she investigates all the plants and flowers rather than an exercise task. Sniffing is one of her favorite activities so she is the chief inspector of any packages and deliveries I get to the apartment. Her other favorite activities include chewing (but only her toys) and playing with her human (she likes fetch, tug, and “mom will you please let me balance my toy on you whilst I chomp away”). She likes all the toys but if it is a plush or has a squeaker, it jumps to the top of the list and doesn’t last long in the house! She can’t sleep at night without a blanket regardless of how warm it is, so my bedroom has three blankets (one on the bed, one on her bed, and one in the crate) so no matter where she chooses to sleep, there is a blanket for her to get in the perfect position. The one time I forgot to put a blanket on my bed before sleep, she pawed at the duvet and nudged my arm to inform me of my grave error. She likes to sleep on her side and one part of her body must be touching her human when she sleeps on the big bed otherwise she cannot get to sleep! Parker is a dog who likes to be with and around her human/s but doesn’t want to be a lap dog. I work mostly from home and so my day is made up of a snoring dog on the couch, on my feet under my desk, or sometimes she will lay behind my chair. Her other love language and form of affection comes from licking and giving kisses. She is a big licker and it is an integral part of our day as it is the best way for her to decompress. I try to offer her outlets for it lick mats, pupsicles, etc. but her favorite thing to lick is me! She has been in foster since February and over time she has really warmed up to getting pets when she solicits them and will lie on me when we take our joint afternoon nap (this is one of her favorite daily activities). She is routine oriented and knows the daily schedule so well that she wakes me up for under the duvet time about 15 minutes before my alarm goes off and she heads to the kitchen for medication time at the same time each day. She definitely enjoys a quieter and more low key lifestyle with not many visitors into the home but in return she is a wonderful companion who is silly, goofy, and playful. She takes to learning new commands and skills well, she is super food motivated. She is an expert at sitting and we have nailed “touch” in a low distraction environment. We are working on “leave it”, “down”, and “place” currently. Her favorite treat is cheese (and honestly anything lactose-based) but peanut butter is a close runner up! I am super lactose intolerant so she has a special section of the fridge with her yogurt, whipped cream, and cheese! Parker has also been trying new foods like blueberries, sweet potato, carrots, and peas to expand our treat repertoire. She is a bit of a nosy girl and wants the gossip (or maybe she just has severe FOMO) as she is always interested in my phone calls and if she sees people on our walks, she wants to go and investigate. With the warmer weather, Parker has been loving sitting and laying in the grass to observe the environment and work on her suntan. She’s even gotten to experience the wildlife as I live near a wooded area where deer often emerge from.
