I had an idea a couple years ago. Kevin is now married planning his own Christmas vacation. His child is acting bratty as Kevin did at the start of the original. They leave and “accidentally leave the kid behind. That’s when Harry and Marv show up for “revenge” from 35 years earlier. Only to realize they gotta deal with the McCalister kids kid. Kevin watches and even guides his kid with use of their blink cameras. The end of the movie you find out the bandits have been out of prison and were reformed and Kevin actually hired them to scare his kid to straighten out the bratty behavior because it worked on him in 1990.

Wrinkle: the “old freaky person” that each movie has is actually Marv. He runs into him and he’s older (and still an idiot) but he’s on parole and softened with age. After spotting Kevin a few times, he offers him some words of wisdom which is exactly what he needs to repair his relationship with his son. “The one thing about you, kid, I gotta hand it to ya; you never gave up. You always fought back. I’d hope after all this time you’d see what you always fought for, no matter what, was to get your family back. So stop feeling sorry for yourself and go get your family back”.

Kevin owns a high tech home security company. Christmas Eve he gets a call that some of the tech is acting up at a home. He personally goes to look at it and gets locked in. He then learns that it's Harry and Marv's kids. Angry that he took their parents from them, they run him through a gauntlet of traps. But surprise, he's good at solving them and they get caught by their parents who explains Kevin was right and they should not have hated him. etc.

i once had an idea for a home alone horror movie. kevin is an adult in a psych ward. he lost his mind after everything he endured as a child. harry and marv are in hospice as they are no longer a threat to society. it's christmas eve and noone is at hospice except them because the families took everyone home. kev breaks out of the psych ward and plans his revenge and terrorises harry and marv all night long and this time they have to escape a maniacal kevin.

then in one of the pranks he uses one that Kevin used in the first two movies, adult Kevin laughs and disarms it before getting hit with a new addition to set trap Kevin didnt know about

my idea is kevin is walking he sees one of the old burglars homeless and they start talking and let the past go then they both go find the other burglar down on his luck drunk needing help too after all 3 have become friends they walk past kevins house being robbed with kevins kid inside all 3 work to stop the robbery with the classic traps etc or it could not be kevins house but something interesting like a local charity shop or a kid trapped by robbers etc but the idea is a redemption of the burglars with a forgiveness xmas vibe.

No let’s turn it into a horror. Kevin after being left behind becomes agoraphobic, he doesn’t like to leave the house. His family decide to go away again and all die in a plane crash. Meanwhile in an insane asylum we cut to Harry and Marv who see this on the news and the reminder of Kevin ruining there lives, they decide to break out and and plan to end him. Chaos in the old McCalistair house ensues and Kevin is ultimately left home alone FOREVER.
