@keepingitrealpsychology: Speaking at the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion best practise in mental health conference 🌞‼️🧘🏽‍♀️🌱🦋 A moment of reflection for little me who thought she’d never get the Assistant Psychologist job, never get a place on the DClin and never finish the DClin 🥺 Diva, in the right rooms we are celebrated for the parts of us we never thought were enough!!!!! Do not give up We heard from some amazing services doing real, anti-racist, proactive work!!!! We heard from Joanne Anderson, the first elected black female mayor in the UK (and the ICON of Liverpool). We heard some poetry from local artists and we had a gorgeous vegan lunch from @eatupgud I spent the day in awe of the spirit of attendees and EXCITED for the future of clinical psychology and mental health work. The ethos and determination demonstrated by those in the room had me taken aback 🧘🏽‍♀️ I had the honour of co-presenting the day as the MC (Someone said I was the compáre?) and THEN facilitating a narrative therapy informed workshop using art and we created our own hand fans 🪭🪭 supported by my amazing colleagues who are making SERIOUS moves already @sharedground.community I left the day with my heart feeling full, my belly fuller and my hope for the future of psychology RENEWED 🤸🏼‍♀️ It was amazing to meet so many gorgeous people who know me through this account!!!! The divas have officially infiltrated the world of Clinical Psychology and we are here to STAY 🪩 An amazing opportunity brought to us via hard work and determination of course tutors on both the Lancaster university (@lancasteruni )and Liverpool university DClinPsy. Thankyou to @aminaatiqcreative Saeed and Chris for creating such a safe and supportive space.
