I get the sentiment, but surely having your product in the same space as those awful options helps to educate people/grow your brand and could have made lots of hamsters so much happier rather than none at all?

Adore your product and can completely understand where you’re coming from, that said, wouldn’t having your product in stores offer a direct in store solution that people can choose and be seen anyway? I’m struggling to see the logic as they will keep selling those old cages regardless, yet if you were in store, people can discover you sooner - especially if you designed the packaging boxes in a way that educate too. I understand wanting to oppose their old ways, but idealism can also be harmful if it stunts growth in hopes of perfection first. A lot of companies like them will take a number of years to change, and old cages are more likely to be phased out rather than replaced overnight because of the current stock/supplier relationships already. Having strong ethics is fantastic, and it’s obviously your call, I’d just be interested to hear your decision making around that, given how this could have scaled your product, reach and impact exponentially into a market that desperately needs it.

I understand your standpoint but I’m assuming people buy these cages through lack of education and convenience so stocking your product along with having a display that educates would be a win win no? Exposure of your mission and giving people a convenient, humane option

This is really inspiring but I can’t help but wonder, this retailer sells all of these enclosures that are inappropriate, if your products was featured in the same space, others may be more inclined to buy your product over those? It also may be the first time someone is seeing a product like yours and being exposed to the facts around smaller enclosures? Surely this is better than not reaching those consumers at all?

Why don’t you let the “bad” companies convert by letting them start selling better product, like yours? By providing them with better products their customers can choose better products, provide better for their animals, and eventually the “bad” products will be ignored for the better alternatives, hopefully.

Just a different perspective, but maybe if you got into the retail stores, the public might buy better homes for their hamsters because then there is a option and that might spark them to learn more. If you aren't in these stores then all they have are bad options and won't know better.
