I tried to take my six year old, two year old, and two month old to a local event tonight by myself. It went horrible. Originally my husband was going to come home from work early so I could just take my older daughter and baby. Unfortunately he couldn’t come home early so I decided to go on my own. It was an event a short walk from our house at a local library. My six year old wouldn’t listen when I said it was time to go. My two year old ate paint, ate dirt, broke a balloon, and climbed in and out of the stroller while I tried to rein her in. My two month old screamed half way through and wiggled and wailed while I tried to take him out of the carrier without dropping him. I was so embarrassed that I emailed the event coordinator after and apologized. When we got home, the fun didn’t end. My two year old started spitting dirt out of her mouth, my two month old screamed even louder because it was now time to feed him, and my six year old continued to not listen. I had to give the two year old a bath while the baby ate and my six year old got ready for bed. All seemed to go well until my two year old decided to try to climb out of the bath. I stopped her just in time but then had to lay the baby down who was not satisfied quite yet. So the wailing continued. In all the screaming and crying (which even I got to participate in) I FELT SO ALONE. Like no one in the world could understand what I was going through. Not in that moment, not ever. And even if there was someone that could, how could I find them? Wouldn’t they just judge me like everyone else? Say “control your kids” “try gentle parenting” “take a deep breath”? Thats when I remembered this app that connects moms. Weeks prior I had posted the second screen and I saw it now. I had shared this in a moment of clarity and happiness to help other moms and it did.
