I have a question, I’m an American and I love the name Anastasia, I pronounce Anastasia as you do in Europe and I think Nastya is beautiful for shorter version of Anastasia, but I was wondering if Stas was an okay nickname for the Anastasia, because I’ve always planned on naming my daughter Anastasia with the nickname Stas, but I don’t want to be rude by giving her a different nickname than she should have

I’m Mexican American but LOVEEE the Russian pronunciation of Anastasia and really want to name my future daughter that but idk if I have to be Russian to name her that. I’m Eastern Orthodox so I have a little connection to Russia because I grew up around it 🥲🙏

I was ready for you to say AANNAstaSHia. . Ana(ohhhna) sounding in America is so beautiful. . I’d hate it too. This is why my son’s name is Jameson and not Jamison… no one is going to shorten or nickname my child Jamie… James yes is fine. . He is both Jameson and James to us… it’s totally different. . Just like how I have my too friend spelt Jenny vs Jennie. . If you text me w the wrong spelling I’d not know who you were talking about. . Anyways … Jameson is Jameson or James for short. He will NEVER be a Jamie. - no shade. Just saying. Everything matters.

Also… last comment as I am reading g comments. People have been mispronouncing my name my whole entire life. . And it’s soooo easy… I guess it’s not that common where I or age group .. but it is ionically famous adored and loved in memory of a certain person. Good think people could sound it out. It’s sooo easy. I’ve never understood all of the mispronunciation of my name… and how may different ones they come up with I’ve heard them all. . I think this is what people do when they panic… that is what I have concluded over my years.
