@aussiemammoth1: Our 90-year-old brother, an Australian revert to Islam, probably never imagined that one day he would be wrapped in the kafan, the simple white shroud that every Muslim is honoured with at the end of this life. But when he accepted Islam, he became part of one family, and with that came the rights that every Muslim has over another. Shrouding him was not just a tradition. It was an obligation, a communal duty performed with love, dignity, and respect. He did not have a large family standing beside him. Yet Allah blessed him in a beautiful way. The funeral before his had hundreds of family and community members in attendance. When they saw our brother, they carried his coffin, stood shoulder to shoulder in prayer, and made dua for him before returning to their own loved one. This is the beauty of Islam. This is true brotherhood. We are not measured by our wealth, our race, our nationality, or the size of our family. We are measured by our faith and our deeds. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The believers, in their mutual love, mercy and compassion, are like one body. If one part of the body suffers, the whole body responds with wakefulness and fever.” Every soul matters. Every believer deserves dignity. And in the end, we all return to the same Lord.
