You’ve seen me make more “professional” shaker doors using poplar 1x3s and inner panels with tongue and grooves made on a router table. But here’s a simpler way using only 1/2” MDF and 1/4” MDF. It’s essentially strips of 1/4” MDF glued and pin-nailed on the face of a 1/2” MDF panel to create the shaker style look. I opted for this way for my current IKEA Pax project bc the doors are so tall (almost 8 ft tall) that I didn’t want to risk the doors warping if I used hardwood for the rails and stiles. MDF is very stable, so it will stay flat. Would you try making shaker cabinet doors this way?
