And I’m always shocked how japanese has its own word to describe death from overworking. It show how karoshi is actually a common occurrence in Japan, which is very concerning. I dont think other languages have specific word equivalents to karoshi? I don’t have it in my language (indonesian), and I think english also doesn’t have it?

Hmm, this makes me interested in what the situation with left-wing politics and labour right advocation is like in Japan... As always, appreciate your videos and shining a light on the dark underbelly of Japanese society

This is what the subtext of Godzilla Minus-One was about: hoping the Japanese would put a cessation to blind faith and start to value human life.

Agree. Also i am baffled on how low to no protein most people eat in Japan. 😭😭😭 Idk about other places but at my work place most of their food is carbohydrates base food.

Except no one thinks that karōshi is a good thing. Seppuku was seen as a socially good thing to do, unlike karōshi. Can you show us any sources that back your claim that karōshi is seen as a positive thing in Japan?
I just want to say as a fellow Japanese wasian how refreshing your content is. Your hot takes are so spot on and put into words things I’ve been noticing for over a decade.

The Japanese working culture is one of the reasons i left Japan. But now working in Europe, people are too lazy here or thinking too much about ego and my last company went bankrupt. Somewhere between the eastern and western working environment would be perfect…

As I’m working in a normal Japanese company, I feel the culture of the longer you work, the better worker you’ll be. Like 80 to 90 hours overwork per month. It’s happening normally here.

It make me think about those graf who show that salary man can be really unproductive at work but have way more hours so no efficiency but only big burnout is that the reality?

When I learned how little paid leave people get in Japan, and then that people only take maybe half of it every year I got very sad. When did enjoying life become such a crime?

I don't want to underestimate the issue, but for example Mexico is the country with the most worked hours in the OECD even without considering the unreported extra hours, but they are top 10 in happiness, and there's no "dying from work", Japan is like half in the chart of worked hours per year, whats the difference?
