Dated bi men as a straight woman. I PREFER straight ones because I’m not culturally queer/don’t live a queer lifestyle- otherwise, it’s not the sexuality that is my concern. It’s if it’s fair for someone who deserves a lifestyle where they’re comfortable in their skin to date me or not. We should actually be asking bi men if they exclude straight women LOL

You can fully support bisexual equality, vote for lgbtq+ rights, stand up for against discrimination, and treat bi men with complete respect in every professional and social setting, whilst still having personal boundaries for who you want in your bed. Feeling an intimate disconnect or lack of spark based on a partner’s history doesn’t mean you wish them harm or deny them rights. Some people feel a stronger baseline relatability with partners who share their exact same monosexual lens….it just feels like we’re evaluating personal romantic desires as if they are political statements. Equality in society means everyone gets equal rights, respect and safety - you can respect someone’s identity without desiring an intimate relationship. Wanting a partner whose baseline experience mirrors your own is a common preference, it’s no different than someone preferring to date a partner with similar relationship history or cultural background because it feels more relatable to them. A boundary doesn’t need to be universally “fair” to be valid, it just needs to be yours.
