"The Presidency, led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Ministry of Education headed by Hon Haruna Iddrisu, the Members of Parliament on the Education Select Committee, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, and the Ghana Education Service please be humbly reminded that the 2026 year group Professional Trained teachers who went to Colleges of Education for 4 years (2019-2023), who have passed the Teacher Licensure Exams, Graduated from the 46 Public Colleges of Education, and finished their one-year mandatory National service are still at home for almost two and a half years without recruitment and without any clear guidance as to when they will be recruited. The pain, hardship, depression, and mockery they are facing are becoming too much. These are some of the reasons why teachers are not respected in this country - how can a trained and qualified but unposted teacher be hawking on the street selling pure water just to survive? I am not underrating those who sell pure though. Some are even going to extremes, engaging in dangerous jobs just to survive because the only thing they have been trained for is to teach and make an impact as their primary skill even though some are trying other businesses to survive. For how long shall they be at home wasting their pedagogical skills for teaching? For how long will they be going through hardship in this country? I understand the government has its this country? I understand the government has its ways and is doing its best, but I humbly appeal to the government to help address their concerns. The Presidency, especially the Ministry of Education, and the Ghana Education Service should come out with a clear update and roadmap to address these concerns and ease the tension on these patriotic and democratic citizens who are qualified and ready to impact lives. They have done their part; it is now left for the government to do its part as well. I thank you for taking this issue very seriously. God bless our Homeland Ghana.
