After everything they had been through in the film It does make sense for both of them. This is the first time we see Kara actually let loose and fight for someone while at the same time she’s releasing her pent up anger and grief. At the same time Ruthye is seeing in Kara someone who is there for her, protecting her from further trauma. The lyrics match that energy. I thought it might seem cringe when I heard about it but when I watched the movie I understood the context better.
