@kinacptsdtherapist: #duet with @RedCoog #therapistsontiktok if coping skills and cognitive restructuring/thought challenging aren’t working for clients, that doesn’t mean they don’t want to change. There are so many angles to consider when people hit a wall with these approaches including understanding the deeper neurobiological underpinnings of trauma, and why trying to force change via different behaviors or thought processes can be ineffective when a persons patterns are stemming from implicit learning. I personally do not use any coping skills or thought reframing in my practice, and that’s not to say no one should use those (they can definitely have a place), but I am saying there are SO many different therapeutic approaches and I would really like to see therapists not blame or shame their clients when the approach they take isn’t working.
a therapist commented that she gets her clients unstuck by saying "by staying the way you are you are paying my bills. my car is paid, my mortgage is paid, etc etc" and she said thats what usually fires them up???????? and the original therapist who posted that video LIKED HER COMMENT

My hot take is that therapists like the one you’re stitching stop looking at their clients as clients and start projecting their irritation of folks in their lives onto them. Which is why they get so invested + agitated at a lack of change.

What a horrible thing for one of her clients to come across. She also works with CHILDREN. I fired 2 therapists in one year because they barely understood trauma informed

The comments on her video made my jaw drop. Not only what she’s saying, but what other therapists are comfortable saying there too. It’s wild…... As someone in school for counseling right now, the Code of Ethics is at the forefront of my mind. And “venting” about your clients online is def an ethical dilemma that should be taken seriously!

I have spent a lifetime telling myself something was okay, when it wasn’t, all the physical and mental and seg abuse. I thought if I just changed how I thought and my environment and “mindset” it will be ok. I’m 52 and so detached from myself, I am hyper vigilant, I intellectually catastrophically map everything little thing to be prepared for what can go wrong. I’ve seen quite a few therapist that do this method and I tell them this doesn’t work for me. Then they get irritated and I feel the energy shift right away.

I am a totally different p

i have a question,, since both cptsd and bpd have similar causes and roots, some ppl argue theyre the same diagnosis, and both fall under secondary structural dissocaition, can therapy effective for cptsd be used for bpd? (ifs, coherence, SE, narm, emdr, etc)

I am not even sure what to say… I am a newbie somatic therapist and the amount of energy I have to put into to make sure I am learning and consuming knowledge from the “safe” therapists is insane. And I am not talking about online world….. I am talking about offline world…. Thank you for sharing this!

Another reason I’m not doing therapy again as I refuse to be judged by somebody who’s 14 years old.😏
