@channelnewsasia: Multiple people are believed dead after a mall floor collapsed in Japan's southern Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu following a magnitude-7.1 earthquake on Tuesday (Jul 28 ). Emergency services said many are trapped in the Aeon mall outlet in Kashima Town. Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, said in an X post that her government has set up a task force to gather information, assess possible damage and prepare for rescue operations if needed. #japan #japannews
The footage of the Aeon Mall Kumamoto is not of the mall's collapse due to the earthquake, but rather of an explosion caused by an LP gas leak a little over an hour later, resulting in casualties and people trapped inside. It's a shopping mall. The gas leak was probably caused by the earthquake in a restaurant.

I thought in Japan, all buildings must be earthquarke proof. Maybe cracked walls and definitely not collapsed roofs.

that's not an earthquake damage, more like a bomb damage. debris flown outside is not an earthquake damage
