The footage of the Aeon Mall Kumamoto is not of the mall's collapse due to the earthquake, but rather of an explosion caused by an LP gas leak a little over an hour later, resulting in casualties and people trapped inside. It's a shopping mall. The gas leak was probably caused by the earthquake in a restaurant.

I thought in Japan, all buildings must be earthquarke proof. Maybe cracked walls and definitely not collapsed roofs.

地震後有些火災是常見的、但還没聴説過地震後有大規模爆炸的、据説当時煤氣味很濃、詳細原因還有待進一歩調査。達到一定以上的震度、煤氣的輸送都会被自動関閉、這套系統在日本是司空見慣的。即使所住地区很少有地震、防災設備也是相当斉全的、設備點検也不怠慢、想像不出有什麼理由能引起如此大規模的爆炸、但不幸還是発生了、為死難者們悲哀黙祷🙏🙏🙏
