My new productivity tool ✿˚ • I have been looking at e-ink readers for note-taking that can sync to my own literature databases, to make it easier for me to access papers to read and annotate on the go, and so far this has been the most suitable and affordable based on my needs • I chose the Boox Go 10.3 Gen 2 Lumi, because it has front light for late night reading, and it's been very smooth to write on, but does come with some drawbacks • Starting with the pros ₊˚⊹ ° very thin and lightweight, and fits any bag or purse ° runs on Android 15 so I can download apps from the Playstore ° easy to navigate UI, a lot is customizable to fit my writing style or use case ° writing feels just like writing on paper with a pencil or marker ° front light can be adjusted to warm tones for eye comfort ° library sync, e.g. Zotero in my case works so smoothly • Some cons ･:˚ ° Non-EMR pen, although the Inksense stylus works really nicely, since now it's an active pen, it limits my options of styluses, so I can't use a Lamy EMR stylus for example ° The proprietary nibs also wear out too fast, like within 2 days in my case because I write and annotate a lot for academic work ° 4 GB of RAM, which is kind of low considering most smartphones run on 8 GB nowadays ° 64 GB of ROM, again, kind of low considering a lot of smartphones have 128 GB minimum ° No micro SD card slot, so I can't even add memory to this if I run out, and would need to rely on cloud storage...but I have a 128 GB USB flash drive I can connect to it at least via USB-C • Overall, very reliable device, it's the best for academic work so far in my opinion, but there is much room for improvement, e.g. ceramic nibs that last longer, better storage capacity • #academicwriting #boox #ereader #techfinds #studygram
