because time isn’t linear, the presence of evil morty suggests morty c-137 has the potential to become just as, if not more evil than evil morty. these episodes in season 9 break down morty’s psyche much more and show how being berated constantly by a narcissist either kills you or turns you into a more evolved version of them.

doesn't morty grow up to be Rick? and then travel dimensions to be with his family when he can't have the family he chose. thats why rick is irritated by morty constantly but still chooses him. its why they are so consistently together in every universe they are a part of.

I believe evil Morty is a snake eating its own tail type thing… I think we’re saying the creation of him but he’s inevitable. He’ll run into himself because they’re all on different timelines. Different universes. None of the family or characters realize all these meaningless adventures and run ins mean nothing because, Rick, prime Rick, Morty, evil Morty, even Beth and space Beth, they are all inevitable and take place all at once but never at all. Too many infinite universes to ever know. The more Rick exposes Morty over and over to his own mortality and numbs his emotions. The closer we get to our Morty… becoming Evil Morty.

being so institutionalized that being apart of a family that just wants to love you and have a somewhat "normal" functioning family is uncomfortable and scary to him that he sabotages it to get back to Rick. We are literally watching a kidnapped victim and Stockholm syndrome play out. Morty is so used to the cycle and he can't get out.. I honestly think this is what makes/made evil Morty because even Evil Morty had to come back and team up with Rick again after literally creating his own universe.
