@crmnallyobsessed: Last-minute appeals have been filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in an effort to stop today's scheduled executions.   If the requests are denied, Florida will carry out two executions just hours apart for the first time in more than six decades.   James Aren Duckett, 68, is set to be executed at noon for the 1987 r pe and m rd r of 11-year-old Teresa McAbee, after a stay granted for additional DNA testing was lifted when the results proved inconclusive. Dominick Anthony Occhicone, 80, is scheduled for execution later that day for the 1986 m rd rs of his ex-girlfriend's parents and would become the oldest person executed in Florida's history.    If both executions proceed, they will be the state's 11th and 12th executions this year. Gov. Ron DeSantis has defended accelerating executions as delivering long-delayed justice for victims' families, while Duckett's attorneys continue to argue he is innocent and are pursuing further appeals.
