Ours was always sad when we left. So we got another one. Now they are both sad when we leave 🤣 you won’t regret it! They love playing, cuddling, and being besties. Me and my boys vote yes for another dog!

If you can afford and are of an age to provide the play and exercise for 2- absolutely! We had 2, had to say goodbye to the 9 yr old this past Feb leaving our 4.5 yr old Addy alone. Then my spouse of 44 yrs moved out, so at age 70, even though I would love to get a companion to play with Addy- I can’t. So I make it a point to visit my daughter 9 hrs away as often as I can who has Addys litter mate/brother so they both have time to play with each other. It’s hard to separate them, but life is often full of hardships we can’t avoid. You won’t regret 2 regardless.

I had a golden retriever, who maybe was about four years old when we added another male to the mix. My first golden always seemed very sad. Of course there were joyful moments however, he just seemed depressed and I wish I would've really mentioned it to the vet because I wonder now if dogs could use something like an SSRI which almost sounds like a joke, but I'm quite serious. I can't say adding another one made it better for him, but maybe he was just a special case.

We got our puppy Mick when Moe was 12, and honestly, I was worried at first because Moe was so much older. But I think it ended up being a good thing because the pup got the old man more active and playful and helped teach the pup how to behave.
