Sarah :
You know what, a lot of the time we internalize other people’s character flaws, traits, and behaviors, and we make them about us, when many times they have absolutely nothing to do with us. A liar is not lying to you because they think you’re stupid, unworthy, or not deserving of the truth. They lie because of something within themselves: maybe they don’t feel safe being authentic, Sometimes people lie because they have learned to avoid discomfort, conflict, shame, or accountability. They may be afraid of how they will be perceived, afraid of consequences, or so attached to protecting their image that they choose dishonesty over vulnerability. Someone who constantly cancels on you does not automatically mean you rank low in their life. Sometimes it means they struggle to show up for themselves, they lack discipline, they’re not finishers of anything/they’ve never see anything in their life through, they struggle with organization, boundaries, emotional regulation, or following through on commitments. They may overpromise, avoid discomfort, become overwhelmed, or simply lack the skills needed to be consistent. A cheater is not cheating because you weren’t enough, because you weren’t attractive enough, or because you lacked something. A cheater cheats because of their own unresolved issues, a lack of self-control, a need for external validation, poor boundaries, or a lack of self-worth. People’s behaviors often reveal where they are internally. We can be affected by how people treat us, but we should be careful not to turn someone else’s dysfunction into a reflection of our own value. Our behaviors are often a reflection of our relationship with ourselves and our own emotional maturity, not a measurement of your worth. And everyone engage in these harmful and dysfunctional behaviors, some people to a higher degree than others, but at the end of the day, we’re all dysfunctional to some degree, everyone here is pointing fingers like they don’t have people who theyve interacted with that’ll feel xyz about them. I think that we should not be villainizing people, and allow people make the necessary changes needed when it’s brought to their attention.
