Homemade OM654 Tool - I Saved €300 on Engine Repair. • How I saved €300 while disassembling a Mercedes OM654 engine. Today I’ll show you a simple example of how an expensive special tool can sometimes be replaced with a homemade solution. • On the Mercedes-Benz OM654 engine, the oil pump also serves as the vacuum pump and is installed deep inside the engine block. It is positioned very tightly, making removal difficult without the correct tool. • Mercedes provides a special factory puller for removing this pump, but the tool costs approximately €300. Instead of spending that money for a single operation, I decided to make my own removal tool using readily available parts. • The homemade tool was made using a few bolts, a washer and a standard puller, with the components modified and welded together to create the required setup. • The result is a simple but effective tool capable of generating enough pulling force to remove the oil/vacuum pump from deep inside the engine block. • In this video, I’ll show how to remove the Mercedes OM654 oil pump, why the special tool is normally required and how a practical homemade alternative can be made. • The entire process is shown quickly, clearly and visually, from making the homemade tool to actually removing the pump. • A practical example of how a little creativity and the right combination of simple tools can sometimes save a significant amount of money during engine repair. • #supermechanik #artempankovich #carservice #goldenhandsmechanic #CarRepair
