Sahih Muslim 3004 (Abdul Baqi numbering, Kitab al-Zuhd wa'l-Raqa'iq, chapter on verifying reports and the ruling on writing down knowledge). Older numbering systems cite it as Book 42, Hadith 7147, or as 5326. Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: "the Prophet said not to take down anything from him, and whoever had written down anything other than the Qur'an should efface it, though narrating orally was fine, and whoever deliberately attributed falsehood to him would find his abode in the Fire"
