@luqman.aldarrawi: All of us may have some relatives who always seem to bring problems wherever they go. They talk about one family member in front of another, repeat old issues, spread words, and turn small matters into bigger conflicts. You may have tried to stay patient, explain yourself, forgive, and keep the peace, but after seeing the same behavior again and again, you eventually learn that not every gathering is good for your heart or your peace. Sometimes, when they visit, you already know how the conversation may begin: someone’s marriage, someone’s mistake, what happened at another relative’s home. people who are not even present are being discussed. You may not be the one speaking, but sitting there, listening, agreeing, laughing, or adding to the conversation can slowly make you part of something Allah has forbidden. Allah says: “Do not backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would hate it.”
(Quran 49:12) But avoiding harmful conversations does not mean cutting family ties or treating relatives badly. The Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) taught us to maintain the ties of kinship, even when others fall short. (Sahih al-Bukhari) So greet them with salaam, welcome them with good manners, speak kindly, and show them respect. But you do not have to sit through every conversation or become involved in every family issue. When the gathering begins to move toward backbiting, gossip, or conflict, quietly excuse yourself and keep your distance without anger or disrespect. You can maintain family ties without becoming part of harmful behavior. Sometimes, maturity is not cutting people off.
