![the segregation and poor organization of grammy categories have been a problem for YEARS. it’s nothing new. when bts puts their foot down and refuses to participate in something so clearly designed to box them in, they’re not doing it only for themselves, but for every other act that dream of a recognition they don’t have a chance to get, not because of lack of talent or effort but because of who they are, where they were born. i know it took a lot of thinking into making this decision, but when i look at the photos of bts’ first dorm, them sleeping in practice rooms, the constant mistreatment during the first years while breaking into the american market and then the bts of today i’m just so proud. the way they changed the industry will be forever in the history of music. the academy can disguise their prejudice under the false narrative of inclusion, but no one can erase the path BTS built. the biggest musical act of today is an all Asian group.
