Pain, fear and hope brought me to God, but fear of judgement, shame, obligation to love god and critical thinking pushed me away. After I grasped there was no heaven, no hell, no judgement, a huge weight was lifted. Long process to learn to meet myself and love myself, but i feel happier and more grounded than before.

Personally, it's both, 51% fear and 49% faith. I've read the Bible and I can assure you I disagree with many things (about 70%) of it, patriarchy, imaginary enermies and lots of other things that go against humanity. What keeps my faith is, I am but only a human being who has her limitations, there is a superior being who definitely knows about this and knows better than I do, understands better than I do, makes the rules and I follow and that my capacity may be just a very tiny atom of what I can take. I have learnt to let what I don't understand (yet) in His hands, and move with what I understand for now.

I think it's a little subjective topic. I mean look at something, if U get bad grades in school U get scolded so ofc Ur gonna study for it and all and the thing is when U grow up sure no one's gonna scold U but U still study cuz U understood that the importance of studying. U had to have fear because if Ur parents didn't push U for greatness or to chase for it U would be wandering for something else. I like to think religion is the same. as me a Muslim myself, was taught all about it but till I was 8, I questioned it so much like how come we have to fear god and all. then I came to understand when we say "fear god" it's not like being scared of a powerful entity who can definitely plan for events to go wrong for U but instead it's a kind of fear out of love. like love for Ur spouse also relates to fear for Ur spouse for example fear of losing her, fear if U upset her, fear if U break her heart and all.
