I did a week long stay and the owner accused me of stealing his vacuum. Via text. Repeatedly. Ignored his calls. Like I was going to steal the vacuum and carry it on my flight back home.

so some quick research shows that air bnb hosts are in fact not allowed to fine or enforce such large fines like that and are actually suppose to make a claim with Air bnb support line and if a air bnb host does try to make you pay such amounts for things like 300$ for losing a remote you can refuse take screen shots and report them to air bnb

I just replaced the tv remote for my tv and it’s specific to that tv, not universal. And it was 10 dollars.

I ended up getting a refund on an Airbnb that my family stayed at for less than 4hrs because the host failed to disclose they had cameras hidden throughout the property. Our first indication they had hidden cameras was when we received a text while setting up our disabled son's portable safety bed which is attached to the mattress with straps. The hosts message stated that we weren't allowed to attach anything to the furniture & would receive a $75 fine for doing so. The 2nd & final indication was when we got a text from the host saying we were being fined $75 for having unauthorized visitors because my parents stopped by with groceries & stayed for 5 minutes before leaving. I told customer service we didn't feel safe staying there due to not knowing where all they had cameras hidden since we already knew they had cameras in at least 1 bedroom & in the living room.

what irritates me is that alot of Airbnbs won't list all of these rules in the listing, but will then send them in the chat with check in instructions. I don't think any rule should be allowed if it's not in the original listing.
