After my divorce, I became attached to someone who was emotionally unavailable, and I confused the intensity of chasing them with connection. Even after I ended it, I kept reaching back out, wanting to feel chosen more than asking whether I actually liked who I was becoming around them. Looking back, we didn’t share the values or kind of life I truly wanted. I was abandoning my standards and myself just to keep the attachment alive. I’m still learning that obsession isn’t always love; sometimes it’s anxiety, loneliness, and the need to feel chosen.
