I'm 50, have a 6 year old daughter. I've never once sat on a bench and observed. I actually play with my kid and have to tell the other kids to get their parents to push them on the swing.

you don't have kids. when you've got 1, you can't seat, you gonna play with him. when you've got 2 they can play together... sometimes... so you can have a break.
