We live in a society that is so rushed, constantly hyper fixated on the next thing. We are told to feel our feelings, but we aren’t even given the proper time or space to actually do that. About two weeks ago I went on a retreat called Anahata, the Sanskrit word for the heart chakra, and wow… it absolutely cracked my heart open. It was a plant medicine retreat where we worked with psilocybin mushrooms, something I’ve actually been working closely with for the past couple years through microdosing on and off and doing bigger doses on my own for healing purposes. But I had never done a dose this big before. I came home on cloud 9 and then this week I’ve felt stagnant, heavy, and depressed. Psychology would’ve probably labeled it and said there was something wrong with me, just like my whole life, and like so many highly sensitive people experience. But honestly, there were just emotions that needed love, attention, and processing. I’ve always been different. I chose to step outside societal norms. I’m queer, I don’t work a 9-5, I feel deeply, I do life differently, and although I love this about myself, it has also been such a lonely path at times. Throughout my 20s it’s been really hard finding community, and I’ve lost so many people along the way. I feel like my early 20s were about working through deep shame, especially surrounding a herpes diagnosis I was given as a teen. My mid 20s were all about discovering who I really am, and now my late 20s have been about fully claiming my identity. I’ve had to shout so loud and proud just to exist authentically, and honestly, it’s been exhausting. For whatever reason, my car has always been my little safe space, it’s usually where I feel all my feels. I also just moved to the city and as a highly sensitive girly, it’s been very overstimulating, so my nervous system did its thing and froze a bit to protect me. The second I left today, the waterworks came, and all the memories of the younger versions of me flooded in. I feel so many things for her. Sad, angry, deeply proud. She was not dealt an easy path, and over and over again she continued to choose herself, and it’s what got me here. I’m not exactly where I want to be yet, but I’m pretty damn close, and I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be right now. And if you relate to any of this in any way, just know you are not alone. I see you, I feel you, and please keep going. You deserve to shine in your authentic truth, too❤️‍🩹 #healing #queer #HealingJourney #MentalHealth #herpes
