@_olivialesurfwray: They can care deeply about you… and still walk away. One of the hardest truths after a breakup is believing that if someone was invested, they would’ve stayed. But connection and capacity are not the same thing. Someone can love you, feel attached to you, miss you, and still not have the emotional capacity to repair, communicate, or build a healthy relationship. Love doesn’t automatically create emotional maturity. Chemistry doesn’t automatically create commitment. Feelings don’t automatically create healthy behaviour. Stop measuring your worth by someone else’s capacity to show up. Sometimes the breakup isn’t proof that the connection wasn’t real. It’s proof that the relationship needed more than feelings alone. That realisation can change everything. 🤍 Your therapist Olivia Lesurf Wray🌿 #breakuphealing #attachmenttheory #heartbreakrecovery #relationshipadvice #selfhealing
Exactly what I explained to my FA that sometimes there is the connection and chemistry but incompatible emotional landscape. If you are a very emotionally deep person, you need people who are capable of meeting you at your depth. That is why it’s so important to gauge emotional capacity before getting beclouded with romantic feelings. My FA who is emotionally inconsistent, unpredictable, lacks clear communication, gives mixed signals, lacks capacity to repair after conflict etc wants to take the depth of my love while offering me shallow and uncertain love. That won’t work for me. Doesn’t mean they’re bad or mean people, just means the emotional landscape just not compatible.

This sums up my ex perfectly. I’m very confused because she tells me she’s desperate to form a friendship with me when she is able to, and she has no issue with me keeping a relationship with her daughter. What should I do?

This just described everything we had but her ADHD and Executive Dysfunction meant that her capacity to meet my needs wasn't there. My heart is broken but we had to walk away from each other. 💔

This is exactly what has just happened to me she even said she didn’t have capacity to give 100% and I deserved that. Is this just something they need to figure out? Or will this be with them forever?
