@holvek: Tides are caused primarily by the gravitational attraction of the Moon and the Sun. The Moon pulls on the ocean water, causing a high tide on the side of the Earth facing the Moon. Another tide is created on the opposite side of the Earth due to the motion of the Earth-Moon system. As the Earth rotates on its axis, different parts of its surface alternately pass through tidal zones. Therefore, in most places, high and low tides occur approximately twice a day. The Sun also influences water levels: when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are roughly aligned, the tides are stronger, and when the Sun and Moon are at an angle to each other, the tides are weaker. #earth #ocean #moon #solarsystem
