@purascans: Greenpeace lab-tested clothing from 20 of the world's biggest fashion brands. In Zara's, it found hormone-disrupting NPEs, phthalates, and azo dyes that can release cancer-causing chemicals. And the worst part is where they end up. NPEs break down into nonylphenol — a hormone disruptor. Phthalates interfere with your hormones and are linked to reproductive harm. And certain azo dyes can release aromatic amines — some known to cause cancer — right where the fabric meets skin and sweat. It was never something you could read on a label. Clothing doesn't carry one. It's woven into the fibre and the dye itself. The findings were damning enough that Zara publicly committed to go "toxic-free" and phase these chemicals out. Proof the pressure works. Also proof of how much can sit in cheap clothing that no tag will ever tell you about. The tag lists the fabric. It just doesn't list everything that's in it.
