@alexslabs: Shadows training for footwork and technique 👇: Your swing is only as good as the position your feet put you in. If you arrive late, off balance or in the wrong stance, you’ll spend the rest of the shot making compensations with your upper body. This is why shadow swings are one of the most underrated training methods in tennis. Without the distraction of the ball, you can build movement patterns that eventually become automatic under pressure. Every repetition should follow the same sequence: - Split step with perfect timing. - Explosive first movement to the ball. - Choose the correct stance for the incoming ball - not your favourite stance - Execute the appropriate footwork pattern to create balance and efficient force production. - Swing while staying centred over your base of support. - Recover immediately into a ready position for the next shot. Remember, the incoming ball dictates your movement - not the other way around. A short, low ball requires different footwork from a wide ball. A deep, heavy ball demands a different stance than a high short ball. The players who move effortlessly aren’t improvising - they’ve trained thousands of these movement solutions until they become instinctive. Don’t just shadow swing your racket. Shadow swing the entire point. Visualise the opponent, read the incoming ball, choose the correct movement pattern, execute the shot, recover, and repeat. That’s how you build footwork that transfers directly into match play. Movement creates balance. Balance creates consistency. Consistency gives you the confidence to accelerate. How often do you practise your movement without a ball? 👇🎾 💾 Save this for your next training session and send it to someone who wants to move like a better player. #tennis #tennisplayer #tenniscoach #tenniscoach #alexslabs
