This is nice. After 20+ years of teaching, I’ve found that students need more help on their claims. How do you actually go from nothing to a claim without being given a prompt to answer. That is real thinking.

As a 4th grade English teacher, we follow a similar format: Claim, text evidence, inference (what does the text seem to be telling us; what might a character be feeling, thinking, etc.), and then explanation (connecting back to the claim; how does your thinking connect to the claim)
