I'd been trying to show tension between a daughter and a mother and the resentment that had built up on the daughter's side. I was struggling with it. I had a scene where the daughter stomped into her room and slammed the door shut. She stood in front of it, mouth slightly ajar, breath with whistling in and out. She could still hear her mother yelling at her from downstairs so she snatched a towel off her bed and stuffed it under the space between the door and the floor. When she stood, she smiled in the silence, triumphant. Her mother's voice was finally drowned out. Not a hint of interiority. Eureka. 😁
