I donated to a type one diabetes fundraiser at the salon and they asked me to write my name on a card for the wall, at first I declined but more cards on the wall helps encourage others to donate. So I put down Levi and he is on the wall!

As a teacher, I get it. Attendance isn’t fair when they have no control. The parents are the ones responsible yet kids are held accountable. Also, he’s right. His diabetes isn’t a choice or something he can control.

What's the point in attendance awards when the kids have to rely on someone else to get to school?! It's not their fault if they're late or miss because their person didn't take them! Especially for the kids that are sick and deal with chronic illnesses/autoimmune diseases because they can't help that and they're doing what they need to for their health!

As a single mother with cancer, there were days I was so sick to drive my girls to school. I have no help & even when my girls wanted to go to school it was out of my hands. Attendance awards shouldn’t exist. Levi is completely correct ❤️🩹❤️🩹

This must be such a tricky situation for twins. On the one hand Lucas got an award and he deserves for his achievements to be celebrated but on the other hand Levi didn't get it and him feeling upset is very much valid. How do you balance celebrating one but also being considered of the other's feelings

As a teacher with lupus, I cannot stand the attendance award. If you're sick, stay home! Please don't send your such kids to school because you never know who is immunocompromised!

As a parent who doesn’t work full time, I keep my kids home as soon as they are even a little sick to give the teacher and the other kids a fighting chance to avoid it. Attendance awards are so short sighted

Attendance awards bothered me soooo much as a teacher and disabled adult. It's so unfair for kids who are ill. On top of that, epsecially at that age, it's more about what adults do than kids.
