Pushed myself wayyy too hard at the start which not only gave me bad periods of burn out, but set my manager’s expectations too high. Now they think I’m lazy for pacing myself even though my numbers are still regularly the best in my department :/

I used to offer to help others all the time. Then I was denied a promotion because someone else who strokes leadership’s ego was prioritized. Now, I act my wage. I stopped going above and beyond, out of my way, and the extra mile. If the work is done, great, now I have downtime to regulate my nervous system

I tell people that my work ethic makes me stay busy but I will never break my back for a company. I do not work to over exert myself and I do not rush unless (I work in retail) it’s for the sake of actually helping a customer. The metrics this company wants us to be within only serve for profit not the customers and certainly not the employees

I only give 60% of my energy. I take 20% off every time i know they’re taking advantage of me. At 60% I’m still running LAPS around people who have been there for 5+ years.
