Such a slap in the face to say “I’ll pray for you” when you feel the absolute FURTHEST from God. It’s a cop out, and places all the work back onto the person with Cptsd. I never wanted words, just to be included and allowed to be myself.

oh my goodness this is exactly exactly what I said I went to church I was baptized twice two different things and I just can't get with it because all the struggles that I had as a kid dealing with abuse in many forms God was never there so why in the hell would I try to follow something like that now.

100%. Religious Trauma is part of my cptsd and I can't be friends it close with anyone Religious. like that's fine if you are but I can't do it for my own mental health

Spitting FACTS. I have to take my mom that calls in Jesus every time, but I know it was me and my drive to get better that got myself out of there. I’ve dabbled in many religions growing up. Never found one that resonated, but I do believe there is something out there that gave me the strength to survive.

this is exactly why I'm struggling with religion!! I want to believe but I also dealt with SA at a young age and no one got me through it but me. and it makes me question everything.

it's hard because no one wants to admit that these things actually happen. Then there is the whole idea that you can bring it up once. They'll pray. and in their eyes it's done. But it isn't done. So you talk about it again on a hard day. They then tell you the problem is you because you haven't forgiven if you bring it up again. Eventually the cognitive dissonance overwhelms. Meanwhile the abuse is still continuous
