first off how do you know her sugars are 102? second off that's a perfectly reasonable number! as a diabetic 102 is a good number. if she was in the 200s that's a conversation between her and her doctor

She sounds like she has a very busy schedule and wouldn’t have a lot of time for cooking healthy meals and stuff so unless you’re coming over to do meal prep for her, I’m pretty sure frozen meals would be the best way to go here

Yes, he’s an asshole. He’s judging her without giving her the benefit of a conversation.

30 year diabetic here. 102 is PERFECT blood sugar. This guy is a controlling asshole. If you don’t wanna give money don’t give it to me but you do not dictate how people spend that money or what they eat. YTA

His heart is in the right place but she's 19.... not 9. She needs to make the decision to eat healthier for herself and in college while she's busy like you said isn't going to be the time. Just give her the money.

She is a teenage college student. Most of them need quick and easy access food. Things that are easy to prep. She also is a diabetic, she is going to need access to sugary food instantly. We have raised many teens, they have the worst eating habits. Toddlers are easier to fed healthy foods. This makes me wonder if she is eating this way because her food was controlled at home.

Let’s passive aggressively buy groceries for her to try to make her eat healthier, instead of being the adult, having a conversation and show concern for her eating lifestyle and offer to help her make better habits if she’s interested

How is she going to learn to take care of herself if you’re shopping for her? Grocery shopping is a skill that needs developing. Also 102 Instead of 99 or below? Slow your roll my guy.

Yta food will go bad, money is gonna get wasted. Parents was the reason for her eating habits. Need to have a conversation with her before you do this.

Compromise. Sit with your little sister, ask her what foods she will cook or can cook, has the time to cook. Whether it's via microwave or stove. Yes there are healthy foods you can nuke in microwave. Offer to buy her those and let her buy whatever else she wants with the money that's left over. I understand where he's coming from but it's his little sister not his child.

As a teenager and young adult, I know my family talked about my weight and eating behind my back. They also talked about it to my face. To this day, I still feel like I have to justify food choices. I’m 41 right now, and it still affects me at times. It didn’t encourage or empower me, it shamed me and made me hide what I was eating. It very easily could have led me to an ED.

Send her the money! On top of that send her the ingredients for one healthier meal a week. Sign her up for hello fresh or another boxed meal that she has control of the meal choice and delivery day. She’s young. Most young people don’t eat the healthiest. He’ll cause her not to eat beyond the dining hall.
