The confusion comes from prophets and apostles directly teaching against tattoos and multiple piercings in general conference and in official church publications. Gordon B Hinckley was CRYSTAL clear on piercings. What’s “doctrine” isn’t as clear as members think.

The fact that you claim a Latter Day Saint would ever say you will go to hell. That’s not what members ever say to anyone. That is what Trinitarian Christians do to everyone that opposes anything they teach. We as ladder day Saints don’t actually believe in Hell. There is outer darkness which the only way there is to become a son of perdition by deny the Holy Ghost after and only after having a pure sure knowledge of God. So if there are any real members in your comments that say that just tell them to go read our doctrine and learn. I have never personally ever heard any member of our Church tell someone they are going to hell. 🤔

the fact that the "mouthpiece" of God consistently changes counsel/guidance shows the church is not based on doctrine.. it's based on personal preference of said prophet

Can we still love and cheer on those who DON'T have tatoos and piercings? Its harder to say no and not do it now days, because the majority has them.

it changed because they hold us to a higher standard. they trust that we will steer clear of the worldly things and listen to the words of the prophets. our bodies are temples. people will find every way to fit in with the world instead of stay true to their faith. so sad to see people give into temptations and act like it's normal

When we were young we were taught if it comes from the prophet then its is a commandment. Piercings and tattoos were taught by the prophet at the pulpit of general conference. Don’t misunderstand me. It was all BS. But it was real. I remember my girlfriend taking her piercings out that day. It’s either true or not true. This just supports my belief it’s not true.

So many people are missing the point of the “higher and holier way” that we’ve been moving toward these days. Jesus wants your HEART! Following mosaic law type rules don’t change your heart.
