Let’s prove them wrong. If Trump and Gov. Greg Abbott think they can bulldoze Big Bend to militarize the Rio Grande, they’ve got another thing coming. Today’s rally at the Santa Elena Canyon made that pretty damn clear. At the rally, Michael Ryan, a former Big Bend ranger and West TX native, called out Abbott for selling out Texans. Big Bend, after all, was a gift from Texas to the federal government to preserve and protect. So we’re going to call out Abbott, too — he can’t hide behind the Texas flag anymore. 👉CALL: Governor Abbott now 512-463-2000 and demand protection of Big Bend National Park! No barriers of any kind! ‼️ What’s Happening: 🚜 Bulldozers are shredding sensitive habitat near Santa Elena Canyon along the Rio Grande as we speak. 🏗️ Huge staging areas have been set up outside the park, and man camps could be placed inside Big Bend — an unprecedented move. 🧨 Remote areas in the park like Mariscal Mountain could be blasted with dynamite for patrol roads and border barriers. ⚖️ DHS waived all environmental protections — including the Endangered Species Act . 🏔️ And for what?
