This was something that was causing me a great deal of pain and discomfort professionally. I was trying to be authentic and honest and cooperative with coworkers who weren’t moved by those qualities and actively mislabeled and demonized me. It wasn’t until after the fact that I realized some people are just lost causes and you’re better off being strategic with those that don’t value integrity.

I agree but I also think you’re potentially discounting neurodivergence for the “action” piece of this. There’s a lot of thought and word that doesn’t always translate to measurable and comparative action because of extreme executive dysfunction.

This is so helpful. I have worked hard to develop my soft skills but with certain people, no matter how hard I try, it doesn’t work. And I couldn’t shake the feeling that they were not in it authentically. But at times, I blamed myself. You just made this click for me.

Also these people can be very likable too and get along but if they lack integrity ( I feel like I feel this way with a lot of people pleasers who’s intentions might be good but it doesn’t matter if they’re lying, saying yes when they want to say no)
