Father, respectfully at the beginning of the year you helped me find my faith again and I will be forever grateful, truly. How you were posting videos about different denominations and educating us. 💯 - Protestant denominations were the precursor to democratic movements. local congregational control, voting in church affairs and electing leaders were very influential. Catholicism was historically successful influencing through monarchies. The French revolution sealed the deal for a while as it was intertwined with anti-clericalism and confiscation of church property. it wasn't until 1890 that the church really started to turn the corner when they urged French Catholics to stop trying to overturn the French Republic and reinstitute the monarchy. The Catholic church finally fully embraced. democracies after World war II, and locked that in place with Vatican 2. and then they started promoting it with Pope John Paul II. they definitely lagged behind Protestant denominations by about 200 years
