Well it’s like the Vortec engines and the ls engines in the early 2000s the Vortec isn’t really an ls but it is ls BASED so this is th same thing

The voodoo is the only one that I consider different. This is because they use a flat plane crank. Same modular block, but as a full engine the voodoo is not a coyote to me

The 351 was a bored out 302, doesnt mean it was a 302. Coyote refers specifically to the 5.0. If ots bored to 5.2, its a Voodoo. The base casting isnt as important as the bore, stroke, timing, crank pin alignment, etc. If you take a Voodoo block and use Coyote specific parts to build, its neither a Voodoo or Coyote, is a frankenstein build.

All voodoos are coyotes, but not all coyotes are voodoos. It’s like squares and rectangles if they were loud and could explode if you drew them wrong 🤷♂️

Correct me if im wrong, but i think "Modular" means they were all produced using the same production tooling. Parts are not necessarily interchangeable.

Uh… voodoo can be a coyote, but a coyote can’t be a voodoo. Its likes tangerines and mandarins. Tangerines can be a mandarin, but mandarins can’t be a tangerine. Hope that makes sense…

With the exception of the crank, from what I’ve done with them it seems like they are essentially legos. I’ve made a build from 3 different generations of coyote engines I mean you can even put coyote rods in a 4.6

The 5.2 Liter Voodoo engine is not a Coyote engine. They are both modular engines, but the similarities end there. The coyote uses a traditional 90° cross plane crank, but the voodoo uses a 180° flat plane crank. The engine material and process to line the inside of the cylinders is the same, but the architecture is very different. Now the 5.2L predator motor is coyote based as is the new 5.4L that is going into their new hybrid endurance hypercar.
