He’s staring at me 😂😂😂😂 “it’s raining dad I’m getting wet” 😂. But really I wanted to share this to show some alligator courtship behavior! Swimming over and rubbing on each other, they were also rubbing noses, and I’ve seen them blow bubbles too! This and the bellowing is all courtship behavior, really cute to see! This time last year I think Big Mac was still too discombobulated from being ran over to care much about gator lovin, but I’m glad this year he’s interested! Now if they did/do mate, right around now is when Bella would be building a nest and I haven’t seen one yet so maybe they didn’t, but if they do everyone asks about baby gators and if she’ll give birth. Well first off they lay eggs, they don’t give birth, and as a sanctuary we are trying to provide homes for animals that need it, not produce more animals that would be stuck in captivity the rest of their lives(legally no captive gators can be released at all). So if she does lay eggs we will collect the eggs before they incubate and feed them to the other animals. “You’d kill the babies!?” No, there is no baby in the egg until the egg has had a chance to incubate. It is just like a chicken egg so if you crack it open before it incubates there is no baby inside. People get really angry and rude with me about this one often, it’s really insane how many grown adults do not understand that eggs need to incubate before there is a baby😂. #Alligator #animals
