In Arizona we just close the road or narrow 4 lanes into 1, start the construction and then never finish it. It’s way better.

No it wouldn’t work in the US cause of greed. Couldn’t catch speeders going through work zones if this was implemented. God forbid we think of practical use and saving workers lives in the process.
