I have purgatory clothes, totally get it. But not socks, that’s a bridge too far. Clean socks just feel better.

I thought we were all doing a version of this?? If I wear a cute outfit to run light errands, it then goes on the ✨chair✨ Does the chair accumulate a few outfits on it before laundry day? Sure, but they’re kept off the floor and have a way higher likelihood of being reworn. THAT SAID, the mere suggestion of sock purgatory is hectic af and I would like to petition that you stop that. Get a blanket ladder and put your purgatory items there so it’s off the floor and more tidy. If the purgatory ladder is too full throw them in the laundry

I call mine the “medium pile.” if I am dirty or medium dirty myself, I can wear medium clothes or fresh clothes. Never wear full dirty clothes, and if I myself am full dirty then I have to bathe or immediately wash whatever I wear. Medium clothes aren’t dirty and it would be wasteful to wash them. But also they can’t go back in the drawer because they’re not fully clean and I only want my drawer to smell like clean clothes. Socks and underwear are one-use dirty unless it’s literally like an hour in a cool environment. Sometimes clothes are miscategorized as medium and the next day I realize they do qualify for laundry.

Completely normal behaviour. Everyone who does this cares sustainability and wants to be a better person. Why wash something if it can still be worn? Then I use less water and electricity and don’t damage the clothing item further for no real reason. What I would do differently; I never put clothes on the floor, because they might get wrinkly and I want them to air out. Hang them somewhere, maybe even outside to fresh air, maybe even in the sun for like half an hour to sanitize it a bit. I usually rewear things at home. If I go out and meet people I always put on 100% clean clothes.
